AugierAI.com is a comprehensive AI-powered platform that supports small to mid-sized businesses throughout the entire procurement lifecycle, from identifying opportunities to teaming and project management. I joined this startup project as a UX Design Intern during the final semester of my Master's program. Working in a fast-paced environment during the platform's initial development phase provided me with valuable learning experiences. I contributed significantly to the project's success by designing user-centered and business oriented solutions to streamline workflows. I am sharing a small portion of the project I worked on, which is now live, in this case study.
Introduction
Project Overview
Laundry Link is a mobile app concept designed to help users in urban India discover and book laundry services with ease and trust. This self-initiated project was born out of a personal struggle after relocating to a city where traditional laundry services were either difficult to find or lacked transparency. My role spanned the full UX process, from discovery and user research to interface design, branding, and testing. The goal was to build a user-friendly, culturally sensitive app that catered to both younger tech-savvy professionals and older adults less familiar with mobile apps.
The Spark: How it Started?
After years of living in a small town, my family and I moved to a bustling city. Adjusting to the fast-paced environment, we quickly adopted modern conveniences like cab-booking apps, food delivery platforms, and smart grocery stores.
But when it came to finding a trustworthy laundry service near our new home, we hit a roadblock. We tried asking neighbors, looking online, even walking around, but options were few and disorganized.
Curious, I began searching for an app that worked like a "Door Dash" or "Uber Eats" for laundry. Something that could help me locate, book, and track laundry services. Surprisingly, there was no mainstream solution that did this effectively.
That moment of friction sparked an idea: what if I designed a solution myself? With a background in design thinking and a mindset geared toward solving real-world problems, I decided to explore this opportunity.
Problem Statement
People living in urban areas of India, especially tech workers and elderly adults, struggle to find and book reliable laundry services due to the lack of a centralized platform offering transparent information.
They need a simple, trustworthy solution that allows them to:
- Discover nearby providers
- Compare pricing
- Check reviews
- Schedule pickups conveniently
Goal Setting
This became the foundation of my app. I aimed to reduce friction in the laundry-booking experience by making the process as intuitive as ordering food or booking a cab!

My Approach towards the goal
Research & Analysis
To validate the problem and understand user needs, I conducted both quantitative and qualitative research.
🎯 Methodologies:
Google Forms survey shared with 30+ residents of my apartment complex for Quantitative insights.
1-on-1 interviews with 6 participants across age groups (20s–60s) for Qualitative insights.
📋 What I asked:
How do you currently handle laundry?
What challenges do you face?
What would make you trust a service?
How comfortable are you with mobile apps?
💡 Key insights:
Users wanted trusted services. (review-based decision making)
Many preferred local providers, ideally within walking distance.
Price was a key concern.
Older users preferred simple language and fewer steps.
Defining Solution
With clear user goals in mind, I began outlining the core features and functionality.
✍️ Key features:
- Help users find local laundry services quickly using a Map feature.
- Establish trust through user reviews, star ratings, and clear provider profiles.
- Offer filtering options for price, turnaround time, and type of laundry (bulk, delicate, dry-clean)
- Create a 4-step booking process tailored for simplicity.
Sketching & Wireframes
I began with hand-drawn sketches that mapped out major user flows:
- Search nearby laundry services
- Apply filters (price, rating)
- View listings on a map
- Book service and choose payment method
Low-Fidelity Wireframes
These sketches evolved into low-fidelity wireframes using Figma. I emphasized:
- Thumb-accessible bottom navigation.
- Large tap targets for elderly users.
- Clear CTAs like “Schedule Now” and “Proceed to Checkout”.

I tested the wireframes with users in their 50s using the Figma mobile app instead of laptops. This helped simulate the real-world experience more effectively, revealing friction points in button wording and flow clarity.
Usability Testing & Iteration
I conducted usability tests with 8 participants across different age groups.
Tasks included:
- Searching for nearby laundry
- Filtering by price
- Booking a pickup
- Selecting payment method
🔍 Key observations:
90% of users completed all tasks
Older participants from India hesitated on the term "Schedule"; preferred "Book" instead.Users wanted the ability to view load size prices earlier in the flow
🔁 Design iteration:
Reworded “Schedule Pickup” to “Book Now”.
Reordered steps to show price breakdown before checkout.

Design System & Branding
I created a minimalist brand identity that conveyed trust, cleanliness, and accessibility.
🎨 Color Palette:
Primary: Blue (stability and reliability).
Secondary: Sky Blue and Red.
🔠 Typography:
Readex Pro for headers (friendly and modern).
Lexend Deca for subheadings (clean and balanced).
Open Sans for body text (high readability).
🧠 Design decision:
I kept contrast ratios high and font sizes legible for elderly users.
Buttons used rounded corners for a more inviting look, and spacing was generous to reduce clutter.

Learnings & Reflections
This project helped me grow immensely as a UX Designer.
✅ What I learned:
The smallest copy change ("Schedule" → "Book") can greatly impact usability.
Testing with actual devices is crucial, especially for non-tech-savvy users.
Simplicity is not about doing less, it’s about focusing more on what matters.
🔜 Next Steps:
Conduct a second round of testing to validate high-fidelity designs.
Explore an MVP build with basic features for a pilot launch.
Integrate feedback loops (e.g., post-order reviews and ratings).

Conclusion
Laundry Link started as a personal frustration, but ended up being a powerful case study in how human-centered design can solve real problems.
This project allowed me to step into users’ shoes, test assumptions, and iterate toward simplicity. I'm excited to continue designing solutions that make life easier, one pixel at a time.
